Polidori in Nepal

About the exhibition

This limited edition folio presents five photographs by Robert Polidori examining two historic courtyards of the Patan Royal Palace. Restored by the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust (KVPT), these courtyards became the setting for a museum of architecture established in 2014 around the theme “The Newar Language of Architecture.” Its exhibits explore the vocabulary and syntax of Newar building through original architectural elements—columns, windows, tympana, roof struts, and doors. Yet the principal exhibits are the courtyards themselves, whose carefully ordered façades demonstrate the coherence and refinement of this architectural language.

Each folio comes in a box set (12 x 24 in) with a foreword from KVPT founder Erich Theophile
